Madrid to Andalusia
DAY 1. MADRID AIRPORT – MADRID:
Arrival at the airport of Madrid and meet with your guide and coach. Transfer to the hotel and check in.
DAY 2. MADRID:
After breakfast we will spend the day visiting Madrid, the capital of Spain. We start with a walk with local guide around the area “Bobon’s Madrid” where we can see the marvelous Neptune fountain, along “Paseo de la Castellana”, one of the longest and widest avenues of the city. Also around this area we could visit the Parliament and La Bolsa. Continue now, with the most popular shopping streets (Gran Via, Plaza de España) and of course we will not miss “Habsburg’s Madrid”, the oldest historic center of the city with the famous Plaza Mayor. We can also visit the Plaza de la Villa, where the town hall is. Lunch by the customer and at the afternoon we will enjoy a visit to the Museo del Prado (entrance included). Return to the Hotel and accommodation.
DAY 3. MADRID – CORDOBA – SEVILLE:
Breakfast at the Hotel. We start our journey to Córdoba passing Castilla La Mancha. Miguel de Cervantes gave international fame to this land and its windmills when he wrote his novel Don Quijote de La Mancha. Córdoba was an important Roman city and an Islamic cultural center in the Middle Ages. We will have a visit with local guide to La Mezquita (entrance included), an immense mosque dating to 600 C.E. featuring a columned prayer hall and Byzantine mosaics, a walk through the narrow streets at the Jewish Quarter finding here one of the best preserved synagogues of the country. Lunch by the customer. In the afternoon we continue our journey to Seville, transfer to the hotel and accommodation.
DAY 4. SEVILLE:
Breakfast at the Hotel. Today we can enjoy a full day visit with local guide to Seville’s most popular places. In the morning we start with a visit to the Cathedral and The Giralda, a bell tower of the Seville Cathedral. It was originally built as a minaret during the Moorish period. Carry on our visit with a walk to the unique Barrio de Santa Cruz, is a labyrinth of narrow streets and alleys dating back to the old judería (jewish quarter). Lunch by the costumer and in the afternoon, we will enjoy a visit to Maria Luisa Park, a public park that stretches along the Guadalquivir River in Seville, Spain. It is Seville’s principal green area. There we will see La plaza de España. Back to the hotel and accomodation.
DAY 5. JEREZ – RONDA – GRANADA:
Breakfast at the hotel and head into Jerez de la Frontera where we can enjoy a visit to the Cantina Domecq, a traditional winery, during our visit we will have a tour at the ancient wine cellars and courtyards and learn more about the system for producing wines and brandies from Jerez. There is also an opportunity to buy their products at the end of the visit. We continue our journey to Ronda following the “Ruta de los pueblos blancos” (White towns route) a series of towns characterized by whitewashed walls and red or brown tiled roofs, also with fascinating rocky mountains with beautiful forests and flora, small whitewashed villages with castles in remote valleys, winding roads with gorgeous and scenic views. Lunch by the customar.
In the afternoon we will visit Ronda, city built on a rock mass, we could walk around the old town finding La Colegiata de Santa María and the XVIII century bullring. At the end of the evening we continue to Granada to check in at the hotel.DAY 6. GRANADA: Breakfast at the Hotel we will have the chance today to discover Granada. In the morning we visit La Alhambra de Granada (entrance included). We will be transported into the magical world of the Arabian Nights when you visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site; the Alhambra Palace and Gardens. This hilltop royal residence is one of the finest examples of Moorish architecture in the world. Marvel at the carved cedar-wood, cupolas, ornate ceilings, frothy stucco work, and exquisite mosaics We can’t miss the visit to The Generalife gardens: Here we will stroll through the spectacular gardens, said to have been inspired by the Koranic description of Paradise. We will see tall columnar cypress trees, roses, orange trees, oleanders and other flowers as well as tranquil pools and tinkling fountains (lunch by the customer). If you wish instead you could also spend the afternoon around La Capilla Real and the Cathedral. Return to the Hotel and accommodation. DAY 7. GRANADA – TOLEDO: Breakfast at the Hotel and after we start our journey to Toledo, well known as “The city of Culture” having been influenced by a historical co-existence of Christians, Muslims and Jews. Toledo preserves within its walls an artistic and cultural heritage such as churches, palaces, fortresses, mosques and synagogues. We can visit Santo Tome’s Church (included), where we could find “El entierro del Conde Orgaz, considered one of El Greco finest works. Lunch by the customer and free time to keep discovering this amazing city. Hotel and accommodation. DAY 8. TOLEDO – MADRID – AIRPORT: Breakfast at the hotel and transfer back to Madrid.
